Company History

Clinton Electric, Inc. was founded in 1981 by Eugene (Gene) Clinton and his wife Barbara.  Gene’s roots in the electrical construction industry began in 1963 working as an Apprentice Electrician in IBEW Local Union 702.  After completing his four-year Apprenticeship Program, serving as a Journeyman Electrician, then as General Foreman and Superintendent of several large projects in southern Illinois, he was offered a partnership in a mechanical-electrical construction firm.  After nine years in that partnership, Gene made the leap into his own business venture and the doors of Clinton Electric, Inc. were opened in May, 1981.

Clinton Electric, Inc.’s customer base and number of employees grew steadily over the following years. The company found its niche in industrial and commercial electrical construction and as a result, has extensive experience in several specialty areas of electrical construction.  (Click here to see services offered) A major expansion at the company’s Ina, Illinois, location in 2000 significantly increased their office space, allowing for continued growth in the company.

It wasn’t long after the inception of Clinton Electric, Inc. that other family members joined the company which eventually transpired into the second generation of family ownership and management upon the retirement of Gene and Barbara in 2010. Today, with the second generation of family at the helm, Clinton Electric, Inc. continues to maintain its tradition of providing extremely high standards of workmanship and quality electrical construction services to its customers.
